Laundry Love

So I've decided to totally steal an idea from one of my blogging idols, Daring Young Mom, and start doing Tip Tuesday. It may not last longer than this week, but we'll burn that bridge when we get to it.

Todays tip is about laundry. As we all know, I don't exactly love house work. It's not one of my best talents, but I do excel somewhat with laundry. It's the only chore that I actually enjoy. Sad that I'm admitting that for the world wide web, but there you go. As much as I enjoy doing laundry, I don't have all day to spend on it and get seriously annoyed by stains. It's a vanity thing. So, I have started keeping a bottle of shout on the changing table in the girls room and every night when we get them in their jammie's I spot treat their clothes before putting them in the laundry basket. I cannot tell you how much of a difference that has made. It has saved me hours of frustration and also my laundry ego.

So, are there any laundry tips that anyone is willing to share to make life just a bit easier?
Anyone? Anyone?

ok, so you don't know me, curiosity killed me and I followed from Hollywood Flakes.

Anywho...

Laundry Tip.

If you have a REALLY set in stain on white cloth try making a paste with a little bit of water and powdered dish detergant then apply directly to the stain and wash. It's really hard on the fabric so dont do it a ton, but it will GET OUT ANYTHING.

I don't actually know the people that write most of the blogs I read, so it's all good.
That's a great tip. It's seems like if you're wearing white, it's just screaming for a stain. Does it work on dry erase markers? I find that one to be an annoying stain I can't get out.

I love that idea! Can you buy shout by the bucket? That might help me!

The thing that I found to be the best for dry erase and I found it online is hairspray. Sounds crazy I know but it has worked for me. Especially since Cassie is now the dry erase board cleaner for her class. She comes home with some interesting colors on her shirts or pants if she has to stand on a chair.

Here is the website I found it on:

Ferny! You can buy shout in a huge bottle that has a little nozzle connected by a plastic tube. I keep the bottle on the back of the second shelf and just keep the nozzle up on top. Then no one knows your secret to stain fighting!

Ya know, I've actually heard that hair spray works great for ink stains, so that should work great. It's amazing what kind of stains children come home with!

Especially Cassie!!! She is almost always coming home with a new stain from school. Especially paint, apparently paint likes Cassie's clothes alot.

I use spray'n wash and that seems to work on most of our stains. i also use hairspray on ink stains and have always had great success. WD40 works on crayon stains though it's very stinky! As a preschool teacher I had more than one crayon in the dryer incident. . .very messy! This one isn't a stain removal tip more of a stain prevention. For tempera paints add a few drops of liquid dish detergent and mix it into the paint before giving it to the kids for painting. It helps keep the paint from staining.

the best advice i ever got conering laundry was to not have an ironing pile. now i just hang everything and only iron if i need it. so no more piles of things to be ironed and one less stress for me! Happy Washing
