Friday Favorites-New Game

It's similar to Marco Polo, but goes something a little more like this:

Babs: Mama
Me: Babs (I actually use her real life nickname, but you get the idea)
Babs: Mama
Me: Babs
Babs: Mama
Me: Babs
Babs: Mama
Me: Babs
Babs: Mama
Me: Babs

We do this all day every day. When I'm not in the room she crawls through the house calling me and I call back until she finds me. She also does it in the car or if she needs just a little bit of comfort knowing I'm close enough to hear her and call her.

She's the Marco to my Polo. That's definitely my favorite game right now.

Check out another Friday Favorite here!

Bloggers Block

Since it's painfully obvious, I thought I would just point out the gigantic pink elephant in the room. I have bloggers block. I really can't think of anything even remotely interesting to write about. Nothing has caught on fire lately. My embarrassing moments have been pretty limited...maybe I'll have to go back through the recesses of my mind to find one. Even now I'm having a hard time coming up with all the reason why I don't have anything to write about. I have been working on Lolly's quilt so as soon as we get another camera (fingers crossed) I'll post a picture of it. And I do have a cute little thing to share for this weeks Friday Favorites. And that's pretty much all I've got.

Friday Favorites-First Edition

I've been trying to come up with something clever that I can do each week (like Tip Tuesday) on my blog and have mostly come up empty handed. I've run out of ideas for Tip Tuesday, although I did just realize that I did a tip for selling a house on Tuesday and didn't even mean to. Maybe it's more of a habit than I thought it was!
Anyway, so I'm thinking of doing something along the line of Friday Favorites. I'll just post something that I love to share with all of you. It could be anything really, so we'll just never know what to expect from me each week. Ooooh, can you feel the excitement?!
This week my Friday Favorite is a picture of Lolly. I took it last fall on our first trip as a family to the zoo. I'm sure you can tell why it's one of my favorites.

It looks like they're looking right at each other! Honestly I think they were.
Tune in next week to see if I'll actually come up with anything!

Tips for Selling Your House

Cook bacon. No really, if you cook bacon and the smell spreads through your entire house, because that's just what it does, you will definitely get a call for a showing the next day. And then people will really remember your house. You will be know in the real estate community as the Bacon House! At this point, I'll do whatever it takes! And I can only imagine what would happen if we cooked fish! Hmmm.....there's an idea......

Conversation with Babs

Yes, that's right Babs.
Last night at bedtime she was sitting on CG's lap. They were looking at a cute little glowing sea horse toy that we got for our niece for her birthday.

CG: pushes the belly to make it play music
Babs: looking at me "whazat?"
Me: "It's the seahorse playing music."
Babs: "oh"
CG: pushes the belly to make it play music again
Babs: looking at me "whazat?"
Me: "It's the seahorse playing music."
Babs: "oh"
CG: pushes the belly to make it play music again
Babs: looking at me "whazat?"
Me: "It's the seahorse playing music."
Babs: "oh"

We were both laughing at this point. Each time she was completely serious. I have a feeling that the conversations around here are going to get pretty interesting in the years to come!

My New Best Friend

Lately I've been trying to "go greener" and have been looking into natural cleaning products and other fun stuff like that. The problem for me is that a lot of the "green" cleaning products that are available to buy are just a little too expensive for my cheap self. So, of course, I did a little on line investigation into natural cleaners. Many different sites and people talked about using baking soda, kosher salt, vinegar and a few other things to clean. On Saturday, I was cleaning the bathroom and was out of bathroom cleaner, so I decided to give baking soda a whirl! It worked so fabulously, I almost didn't believe it. And the bathroom smelled good and clean, not chemically. I was an official convert to baking soda. Last night as I was opening a bottle of grape soda it exploded everywhere. And I mean everywhere. It was a lot of fun....grape soda & white cabinets make for an amazing combination. Anyway, this morning I realized that the soda had stained our light laminate counter top. Out came the baking soda and poof! the stain was gone. Then the excitement really began. I used it on our glass top stove. It's next to impossible to get every little thing off of a glass top stove, but you should see how it shines now! The stains that didn't come off initially were covered in a paste of baking soda and water and left to sit for a while. Then I scrubbed just about everything off the stove. It looks like new.

Yes, I know, I don't get out much. But you'll appreciate this one day when you have a stain that you don't know how to get out or run out of cleaner. At least that's what I tell myself in order to publish this post for all to see.

Compulsive Hand Washing

Lolly is constantly asking me lately to help her wash her hands. As in at least 20 times a day! Either she's developing some germ phobia issues early on in life or it's her coy little way of getting to play in the water and make a huge mess. Hmmmm......I wonder what it could be.

Confessions of an ADD Cleaner

I have a confession to make. ADD cleaning is a huge problem for me. For example, this morning I was getting the house ready to show at 11 am. It wasn't too bad since I've been attempting to keep it as close to show ready as I can. Here is where my dilemma comes in. I start out in my room with making the bed and I pick up some stuff that belongs in the girls room. So I take it into their room and realize that I'm not going to be able to clean their room while Babs is napping so I should go ahead and clean in here first. So, I actually finish in there, miracle of miracles, and then I flat iron my hair and pick up the bathroom a little. Logical. The girls are hungry so we have a little breakfast and afterwards I decide to work on the kitchen because the dirty dishes need to be loaded into the dishwasher. Then it's time to wipe down all the counters and I realize that I can do that during Babs nap. So I vacuum. As I'm vacuuming I end up picking up the girls room again...I'm not sure how they do it, but it gets messy again 30 seconds after cleaning it. The vacuum gets left in the living room because...I don't know. Then it's back to the kitchen counters and table and then I put the vacuum away. And this is a good day where I'm concentrating on not ADD cleaning. Everything does end up clean and I get lots of exercise walking from room to room.
I have tried a few different things in order to curb my problem. For instance, I would use a basket and everything that didn't belong in that room went into the basket to be taken out all at once. Which works well if you don't get off track in the next room taking out the contents that belong there. And if you remember to empty the basket at all. It doesn't work all that well when you set it aside to empty it "later" because 5 minutes later, I've already moved onto the next shiny thing.
Am I the only one who does this? Or is this the right way to clean?!?!?
