I Love Lucy, Episode 2

So, I've talked about my cat Lucy. Remember, the one who keeps throwing up. I have had Lucy since I was in high school. We go way back. Way back. Lucy is a beautiful cat; the color of a roasted marshmallow with blue eyes.
A few weeks ago, we decided to take him into the vet. It was hard because I assumed that they would tell us that he was sick and it would probably be better to have him put to sleep. That would be hard, but I don't want him to suffer. Turns out that he has a thyroid condition. It's totally treatable with medication. That costs $50. A month. $50. FIFTY DOLLARS!

Now, I actually feel worse. $50 is A LOT of money to spend on the cat each month for medication. Especially since it doesn't seem to be working. He threw up seven times last week. SEVEN TIMES! And every time I take him into the vet to check his thyroid, it's another $50. Of course, now if we have him put to sleep, it's because I'm too cheap to pay for the medication and vet visits. Which makes me feel like an even bigger schmuck than I did before when we talked about having putting him to sleep. I feel like I'm sending him to his execution.
And how can I do that to my kitty friend?
That picture is just for you, Kristina.

I have a cat that has seizures. The meds are not working. I feel bad for allowing him to live with this and love him to much to have him put to sleep. Check online for the meds. You may find them cheaper...

Wow, I would probably put him up on Craigslist.

LOVE the pic. I am lifting it for my blog.

$50 bucks a month IS a lot for cat meds. I don't even like to spend that much on my hubby's meds! Your kitty looks a lot like my kitty that pukes too. Coincidence?

Love the leopard print snuggie!

I had to send Sasha to her end and it wasn't pretty as you know. Made Kevin do it, but you can only do so much. If he's still puking, then he's not getting better. $2 or $50, if he's not getting better, what's the point?

It's hard making the decision to put your pet down. Does the medicine take time to work? I think you'll know when it's the right time to say goodbye to him. Good luck!

Oh no! I hope Lucy gets better soon. And of course Kristina LOVED that snuggie pic. LOL.

That's quite the dilemma! Too bad there's no such thing as pet insurance or drug samples from the vet!
I think Lucy really likes the leopard print snuggie!
