A Day In The Life

A Day In The Life.  We all have times when we want to be a fly on someones wall.  I find it fascinating to see what people's lives are like.  What they are really like.  So I'm sharing a few glimpses of my life with you.  Now, I wouldn't call this a typical day....I don't make Mother Teresa costumes everyday.  But I wouldn't call it atypical either.  There is always something....a Mother Teresa costume, mother-daughter book club, a sick friend who needs dinner brought it, science projects, unplanned babysitting...you get the idea.  A real day in the life.

My day started (after getting the kids off to school) with a trip to Walmart with nothing but desperate hope that I would be able to find some supplies for Lolly's costume.

Oh yes....the costume.  She has a project that she does each month for her 2nd grade class.  This month it was a biography on the famous person of your choosing.  She did the project on her own with my main contribution being the trip to the library where she could find the books on Mother Teresa that would make it possible to do her project.  Unfortunately when I quickly scanned the information page about this month's project, I misunderstood the costume clause.  I thought it was optional.  It was not.

So, off to Walmart for some sewing supplies and a few grocery supplies as well.  Babs loved the fruit arrangement on the counter and insisted I take a picture.  And send it to CG.  Behold...the fruit.  And a cucumber.

But before I could sew, I needed to make some bread.  So, ya know, we would have some bread.
Then I got started on the costume.  Just after this picture I picked up Lolly from school.

After a couple hours, I finished.  And my Lolly girl was happy.

But she liked this picture better so it must be shared as well.
And then I cooked a little dinner.  It was a dinner experiment and ended up quite yummy.
Finished up a little kindergarten homework with Babs.

Then we put the kids to bed, I took a shower and, after finishing the last few chapters of the book for my  book club, I fell asleep.  I know.  I'm a super exciting person in the evenings.

As a matter of fact, I do believe it's past my bedtime now....

Tip Tuesday-Borax

Today's tip is a cleaning tip since I'm such a master at cleaning my house.  Ah ha ha ha.....I couldn't even type that without knowing how truly ridiculous that sentence was.  But at least I have a sense of humor about it.  Moving on.....

We have an acrylic bath tub (which many of you probably have as well) and although it's fairly easy to clean, it tends to get a build up that nothing can get rid of.  You've probably really noticed it if you happen to be using coconut oil for your hair hydrating or leg shaving  needs

Enter Borax.  Just sprinkle a little of this magical powder and give your tub a little scrub.  And I mean little.  You will not be Cinderella scrubbing your tub for three hours.  Just a few minutes and you are done.
Borax can be found at your local grocery store or super center of your choice.  Plus, it's not expensive.

Happy Cleaning!!!

Seriously.....how ridiculous.  Happy Cleaning?!?!  Just get it over with so you can get to something that's really happy.  Like anything other than cleaning.

Less Words Wednesday-Annual Exam Reminder!

There are just no words to describe the joy I get out of receiving these reminder cards from the gyncologists' office.
Creepy shots of animals in nature always make me want to visit the gynecologist.  And in case you've forgotten last year's card, be sure to enjoy it here.

Kinda makes me feel bad about changing offices.  What will I blog about next year?

Tip Tuesday-Shoe Buying!

Girls need shoes.  Lots of shoes.  Women need shoes, too.  Lots of them.  There is a simple beauty in shopping for a new pair of shoes.  Trying on shoes will never make you feel fat.  Ever.  Shoes will give you unconditional love and support.  They are always you're friend.

Now here's a fun tip that I learned a couple years ago.  You may already know this, but I figure if I didn't figure it out till my 30's, there is a possibility that other people haven't figured it out either.

My shoe size is pretty average.  I usually wear a size 7-7.5.  Oddly, I used to wear a 6.5 (for almost 20 years) but with my second pregnancy my feet grew.  Or perhaps they just swelled so large and didn't have the motivation to go all the way back down to the original size.  It was such a tragedy to have to replace my entire shoe collection over the next few years.  Let's be honest, my shoe collection is in a constant state of evolution and is always in need of being updated.  I'm not always in the pursuit of new shoes, but the desire is definitely there.

Back to the fun tip.....girls shoe sizes and womens' shoe sizes overlap, but not in a predictable way.  A woman's size 7 shoe is equal to a girl's size 5.  And girls shoes go up to size 6 in most stores.  So, if you wear any size up to size 8 in women's shoes, you can also wear children's shoes.  Which comes in handy when you're looking for pink sparkly ballet flats to match your daughters' shoes.  Of course, who doesn't need a pair of pink sparkly ballet flats?!
Not only does this handy dandy tip double your shoe options, BUT it should also be mentioned that children's shoes are also less expensive.  Especially when it comes to clearance.  Those cute little pink sparklies were only $6. And yes, I bought them in multiple sizes for the girls for the next few years because....well, pink sparkly shoes for $6 pretty much sums it up.

And in other shoes news, I got these cute little beauties at a thrift store recently.  I love them.  And I figure they're not too shabby for $3.
